NYC Sexual Abuse Lawyer · CVA & ASA Survivors

You don't have to carry this alone.

We work with survivors of childhood and adult sexual abuse. New York's Child Victims Act (New York civil procedure rule 214-g) and Adult Survivors Act (New York civil procedure rule 214-j) created lookback windows for previously time-barred civil claims. The CVA lookback closed in 2021, but new CVA claims for survivors filing before age 55 are still permitted. Confidential consultation.

How we handle your case

1

Investigate

We work with you at your pace. Documentation that supports the claim — institutional records, prior reports to authorities, witness statements, contemporaneous communications — is gathered with full confidentiality and trauma-informed protocols.

2

Negotiate

Institutional defendants (religious organizations, schools, scouting groups, residential facilities) often have layered insurance dating back decades. We coordinate with archive specialists to identify coverage in force at the time of the abuse.

3

Litigate

CVA and ASA cases are coordinated with experienced trial counsel where appropriate. Multi-plaintiff litigations against institutional defendants are common and we partner with co-counsel in that space.

What you can recover

Pain and suffering
Mental health treatment (past and future)
Lost earning capacity
Loss of life enjoyment
Punitive damages
Loss of consortium (spouse)

Every case is different. The recoverable damages depend on your injuries, the insurance available, and the facts of your case.

What you need to know

Child Victims Act — extended SOL for childhood abuse.

New York civil procedure rule 214-g (Child Victims Act, effective 2019) extended the civil SOL for childhood sexual abuse — survivors can now file civil claims until age 55. The CVA also opened a one-year lookback window for previously time-barred claims (extended to August 14, 2021; now closed). New CVA claims by survivors under 55 are still permitted.

Adult Survivors Act — one-year lookback for adult abuse.

New York civil procedure rule 214-j (Adult Survivors Act, effective 2022) opened a one-year lookback window from November 24, 2022 to November 23, 2023 for adult sexual-abuse civil claims that were previously time-barred. That window has now closed; standard SOLs apply going forward.
